With dedicated practice and guidance, my Tamil skills improved significantly. I gained confidence to participate in an essay writing competition and won the 3rd place which was to me a remarkable achievement.

I buy and sell locally grown vegetables like chilly, ladies finger, brinjal, beetle leaf etc. and I also procure vegetables from other farms. To expand my business I recognized an innovative way to sell vegetables.

In rural areas, the weekly market is popular, so I decided to put up a weekly stall of vegetables in the village market held in various 3 different locations on different days in my mandal, thus increasing my buyer base. Each week I earn Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000.
My sincere thanks to SCINDeA-Yadamari Field Office for advising me. I am happy that I am recognized as a dynamic seller in the weekly market, and I have regular clients apart from newcomers. My weekly earnings has improved.

This money was used for internal loans for the members in the group. Further, the members are saving Rs. 100 continuously every month and all the members attend the group meetings regularly. The groups have been functioning well for the last 6 months and in the 7th month the group received Rs. 2, 00,000 from the Women’s Corporation Development office as revolving fund this money to women who are interested to cultivate different types of cereals like black gram, red gram etc. the Group has decided to give loans to the members @ 2% interest.

Based on this, 5 members came forward to cultivate black gram in the first round. They received Rs. 1000 each. Because of heavy rains out of 5 only 3 women cultivated black gram and only one farmer Mrs. Selvarani w/o Dhanapal harvested 425 kgs of black gram and sold it for Rs. 83 / kg and earned a total of Rs. 35,275.
The other 2 farmers harvested little which could be used only for their family. In the near future the group has decided to register in the agriculture department to cultivate paddy and sell the produce to the agriculture department. The group with the help of SCINDeA requested the agriculture department to prove training on producing varieties of seeds through the Aadhma scheme. All the women in the group are very active and interested in agriculture. They have also reduced use of chemical fertilizers and instead apply more organic fertilizers.

I had never thought of the contribution, we as women are making to pollute the environment.
I have used the pads twice now. I find it very comfortable to use. Also I have noticed that I do not have problems related to rashes, irritation etc. I did have mixed feelings about leakage issues initially and this problem was resolved after usage.
I really thank SCINDeA and Project Baala for providing us a sustainable and affordable alternative solution.
